HISTORY

The school represents the amalgamation of two schools, the Coleridge School and

the Parry School between 1825 and 1852, but were recognized by the colonial

government in 1881 as a secondary grammar school for boys.

These two schools had different mottos: The Coleridge School -
'Palmam Qui Meri Ferat' (Let Those Who Excel Receive the Prize),
and the Parry School ‘Non Multa, Sed Multum’ (Not Quantity but Quality).
The school now retains the Coleridge School Motto.

Whites and coloured boys of the upper and middle classes were generally the ones

who attended these institutions. The labouring class could scarcely afford the fees

and only a few scholarships were made available to under privileged boys by the

Church and Vestry.

In 1952, the Coleridge School and the Parry School were merged in the interest of

greater efficiency, and the new entity was named – Coleridge & Parry School.

The new school was built on the present site on five acres of flat land bought from

Ashton Hall Plantation.

Among the first students that attended the school were Erskine Sandiford

(Former Prime Minister), Rufus Brome (Anglican Bishop), Ralph Boyce (former

Chief Education Officer) and Calvin Springer (former Governor of the Central Bank

 of Barbados).

Since the amalgamation the school has had six (6) principals. The current and first

female Principal is now Ms. Sonja Goodridge.

PURPOSE

To have a technology-savvy, vibrant, interactive school that would transform the teaching learning process in a manner that would encourage other educational institutions to follow suite for their 21st learners.

VISION

Within the next five to ten years, this educational institution will be more versatile in its use of technology and digital tools in the teaching learning community. It will aim to create a digital and multi-cultural professional learning community which would empower students and teachers to reach their highest potential in becoming  dignified and responsible citizens

DIGITAL STRATEGY VS TECHNOLOGY PLAN

A digital strategy is preferred since it would focus more on using resources to accomplish the current digital needs of the school.
